With any craving, it's sometimes inexplicable why they pop up when they do, what the craving is and sometimes even more puzzling is the immediacy in which the craving must be satisfied. Last night, for me, was the culmination of all of the above. I have several Punch, Gran Habano, Camacho and Hoyo that I have been holding from 5 months to 3 years and last night I had the "gotta have" moment of them all. So I grabbed a 5 month old Camacho SLR/ Maduro/ Toro, a Newcastle Brown Ale, loaded Dark Side of the Moon and adjourned to the patio. You want to talk about heaven on earth, that was it. I know that Pink Floyd doesn't immediately conjure up the image of firing up a puro but last night it sure did. Anybody else have moments like that?

First, kudos on the choice of Pink Floyd. Last Saturday, my fiancee and I were smoking up a storm in the yard and "Echoes" - all twentysomeodd minutes of it - came up on my iPod. I hadn't heard it in some time and damn, if it didn't sound just great.

Now, as for my music and cigar choice...my last real craving was for Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue" and a well matched CAO Italia. I can listen to lots of different kinds of music and enjoy a cigar to it all, but there is something about jazz and cigars that just go together. Maybe it conjures up images of the smoky jazz clubs of the late 40's, early 50's. Or maybe it's just a great combination of the finer things in life...

Awww man! I have got to load Echoes!! I forgot all about that. How perfect. One of the all-time great guitar riffs that never gets heard is that one at about the middle of the song just before the vocals start again.

my buddy andy has a fire pit on the patio and a speaker system outside, and i have to say there isnt much better than lighting fire and sitting out there with a stogie and some beer and listening to some great music, so yea i have those cravings alot ha...props on drinking newcastle, that is just a great beer...

The thing that topped off the evening is that all of it occurred just as the rain began rolling in so you had some perfect temps with a little breeze. Fire pit has been a serious topic of discussion around our house.

yea there is nothing like it, firepits are a good investment

I'm with you! There are times when it all seems to come togther, a fine handmade, a great drink, and of course, the right tunes to take you away!

Tom Waits- Franks early years, a glass of Woodford Reserve (maybe leave the bottle) and a Camacho Corojo.

I like to sit on the backporch and look at the garden, that is when it all comes for me.

Woodford Reserve. Excellent choice...as is the Tom Waits - although, I confess that I prefer his earlier work, such as "Nighthawks At The Diner"...

And say yes to the fire pit. My parents have one back home in New England, and I can spend hours around it. Man, if only they smoked cigars...

If you like the Corojo then a Punch Rare Corojo is a must try. Also, Gran Habano Corojo is a great smoke.
